What's actually available
Enmax / EPCOR / ATCO utility programs: Currently no broad residential charger rebate. Some pilot programs exist for time-of-use rate plans that reward off-peak charging. Worth a phone call to your utility.

Winter considerations matter, the unit needs to be rated for -30C operation, and the cord needs to stay flexible in cold. Most quality units handle this, but cheap imported units crack at -25C.

Five things should make you hang up the phone.
No mention of a permit. Code-required, non-negotiable.
No panel load calculation. Every quote should include a load calc or at minimum a panel inspection before pricing.
No GFCI or breaker mismatch. Level 2 chargers need a properly rated breaker, and outdoor installs need GFCI protection per Section 86.
Unbranded or import-only charger. UL or cUL certification is required in Canada. If the charger isn't certified to a recognized Canadian standard (look for the cUL, CSA, or cETL mark on the unit), it can't pass inspection.
Price under $1,200 all-in. Something's being skipped. Hardware alone is usually $700+, the permit is $115+, and labour is at least $400. Math doesn't math.
